12 Packing tips for moving

1. Have all necessary supplies for packing. Male sure you have boxes, tape, bubble wrap, markers, tape measure and anything you may need.
2. If you have the original boxes for your electronics such as televisions, computers and DVD players it is recommended you use them as they are safer and are easier to identify.
3. Pack each box by the room and label them. So for example put everything being transported from the kitchen in the same boxes. If possible try and highlight them with different colours so it’s easy to identify which boxes belong to each room to make it easier to unpack.
4. Make sure the items you need least go on the truck first and the anything you need shortly after arriving at the property are on last. Thus they will be the first unloaded.
5. Pack a survival box of everything you will need for your first day and night at your new place, put it on the truck last.
6. Use tissue paper, bubble wrap or newspaper to protect fragile items. Be careful that newspaper can sometimes dirty objects. To save space use towels and blankets instead.
7. Carry all valuable items with you to protect from loss and theft.
8. Photograph or video everything before you pack for insurance purposes. Also make a list of everything that is in each box.
9. When moving with pets make sure that they are catered for. Keep a small bag out with their favourite toy, some food, bowls and a bottle of water.
10. When packing heavy boxes double tape the bottom of the box. The last thing you want is for everything to fall out!
11. Have all swing sets, play gyms, beds, desks etc. dismantled prior to removalist arrival and put the screws and bolts into a container.
12. Garbage bags easily tear so if you were going to bag items use thicker, stronger ones so they don’t burst.
